Mr. Knets by Hannah malatzky and brianna burke
The Legendary Teacher for this Month’s Edition of Sound Off is Mr. Knets. He is a beloved History Teacher for both Sophomores and Juniors, and also coaches JV Girl’s Soccer in the Fall. He has always aspired to be a history teacher, and has been an integral part of the History Department at the Regional for 9 years.
A kickball legend back in the 5th grade, Mr. Knets is a giant sports fan. His ultimate favorite team is the Red Sox (though he is a big fan of the British football (soccer) team Tottenham Spurs too). His fantasy football team is currently “7 and 4...3rd in the league,” which he seems to be pround of.
Being a Hamilton-Wenham teacher for 9 years has been a joy for Mr. Knets, and he says that the best part of teaching is “working with the kids.” Through the years, Mr. Knets has found that his favorite event in history is the French Revolution (and lucky for him, he gets to teach about it every year!). Just like Mr. Kotch, he was unable to think of the craziest late homework excuse, but he says the lamest is “I forgot to turn this in.”
In addition to being a proud teacher, in April 2014, Mr. Knets will become a proud dad as well. He and his wife a expecting a little baby girl, who they have decided to name Elliot Jane (“Ellie”). When he was asked about how excited he is, he responded that he is “ecstatic.”
Mr. Knets may be a tough teacher at times, but he says all you need to do in his class to succeed is “do your work and be involved.”
